Yesterday, a meeting was held at the DMO Karakalpakstan office with Kyrgyz conceptual artist and cultural heritage researcher Tana Sarbugu (Saltanat Kozhogulova) and Karakalpak artist Polat Abdreimov, who is continuing his doctoral studies at the Xi’an Academy of Fine Arts in China.
During the meeting, the guests presented their creative projects and shared their vision of how Karakalpakstan’s cultural heritage could be reflected in contemporary art, design, and tourism products.
Particular attention was given to developing a distinctive and recognizable image of the region, incorporating traditional ornaments and cultural symbols, and creating souvenirs that would serve not only as memorable gifts for tourists but also as a way to tell the story of Karakalpakstan’s unique identity.
For DMO Karakalpakstan, such initiatives are of particular interest. We view culture and the creative potential of local artists as important components of tourism development. Unique artworks, original design, and contemporary interpretations of traditional heritage can help promote the region and create new opportunities for cultural tourism.
Following the meeting, DMO Karakalpakstan expressed its readiness to provide organizational support for an exhibition of young artists planned for November.
We welcome collaboration with artists, designers, artisans, and representatives of the creative industries who are committed to preserving cultural heritage and presenting it to a wider audience in contemporary and engaging ways.
We believe that bringing the tourism sector and the creative community together will help reveal new dimensions of Karakalpakstan and make its cultural identity even more recognizable.
