From June 10 to 12, the public association “DMO Karakalpakstan,” in cooperation with the German Society for International Cooperation (GIZ), conducted a seminar-training titled “Strategic Decisions: Strengthening Regulatory Support for Tourism Development.” The event was attended by representatives of the tourism business, students, legal experts, as well as specialists from public administration and civil society organizations.

The training aimed to comprehensively discuss current issues in tourism development, including the improvement of the legal and regulatory framework, the introduction of innovative approaches to industry regulation, enhancement of the investment climate, and the development of sustainable tourism practices.

During the training, participants were introduced to international best practices in tourism regulation, analyzed existing legislation, and provided recommendations for its improvement. Special attention was given to strategic planning, the development of intersectoral cooperation, and the role of the private sector in promoting tourism services.

The training featured a presentation by Sophie Ibbotson, an international expert in tourism development, who shared her experience and answered participants’ questions during interactive sessions.

Practical sessions included group discussions, modeling of the most effective solutions, and working on case studies. These activities allowed participants not only to increase their knowledge but also to develop teamwork and strategic thinking skills.

As a result of the training, participants developed presentations and proposals aimed at strengthening institutional support for tourism and shaping a favorable regulatory environment. These outcomes were presented to the organizers and relevant authorities for potential inclusion in future sector development programs.
