Youth Tourism Club held its first event at the Karakalpak Museum

On July 9, 2025, the Youth Tourism Club under the "DMO Karakalpakstan" Public Association held its first thematic event - a presentation - at the Museum of History and Culture of the Republic of Karakalpakstan. The meeting was dedicated to discussing innovative ideas for increasing tourist flow and increasing museum interest among residents and guests of the region.

Club members presented four modern and creative ideas to attract more visitors and bring the museum's exhibition to life.

Main ideas presented by the club:

1.     Using modern technologies and artificial intelligence to animate paintings and exhibits.
With the help of technology, paintings and exhibits could tell their stories from a first-person perspective, turning a simple exhibition tour into an interactive and captivating journey through time. Visitors could use special screens or their smartphones: by pointing the camera at a painting or exhibit, they would see how the character “comes alive” and tells its story — who they are, what era they belong to, and why the artifact matters. Thanks to this approach, the museum stops being just a hall with captions and becomes an immersive journey where each exhibit becomes a “guide.”

2.     Organizing a museum quest for visitors.

This quest would help guests explore the museum collections in a playful and engaging way, solving riddles and completing tasks. Visitors would receive a map with questions, riddles, or clues to solve as they move from one exhibit to another — for example, to find a “key to a secret” or decode a hidden word.

3.     Turning the museum into a center for cultural exchange, entertainment, and education.
This would transform the museum from a place that only stores exhibits into a lively venue for meetings, creative events, master classes, and lectures where every visitor could learn more about the region’s history and culture. This could include lectures, master classes with craftsmen, temporary exhibitions, sand shows, and meetings with artists and historians.

4.     Creative space for visitors: “The museum as a place for creativity and unity.”
At the museum entrance, it is proposed to set up a large poster or board where each visitor can leave their mark — draw something, write a wish, or share an idea. This would create a sense of participation and reveal a new side of the museum: not only as a place to view exhibits but also as a space for self-expression. This initiative unites people of different nationalities and cultures, strengthening the feeling of community and pride in their heritage.
The idea was inspired by international experience: several years ago in Kazakhstan, a similar project was held in the street where passersby left their drawings and messages on a large canvas. Later, the canvas was sold at auction, and its image was used to create souvenir products.

Additional ideas discussed:

Club members proposed organizing weekly creative master classes, “Make your own souvenir,” where visitors could paint on special ceramic or wooden plates, creating unique designs or national patterns to take home. This would turn a museum visit into not only a tour but also a creative experience.

Another idea was to organize an Instagram contest: “Animate a painting with AI.”
Anyone could use artificial intelligence tools to “bring to life” a museum painting or exhibit. The best works would be published on the museum’s official pages and website, and the winners would receive memorable gifts, like free family tickets to the museum.
This would engage young people and active social media users, draw attention to the museum collection from a new and modern angle, and help popularize the region’s history and art in digital format.

All these ideas share one goal: to transform the museum from a traditional viewing space into a lively creative platform where everyone can connect with history, contribute, and take away not only memories but also their personal result of participation.

The Youth Tourism Club will continue to develop such initiatives and projects aimed at promoting the region’s cultural heritage and developing tourism.
