The Team of "DMO Karakalpakstan" Visited Kyrgyzstan: Experience Exchange, New Ideas, and Inspiration for Tourism Development
As part of the project with GIZ Uzbekistan, from July 23 to 26, the team of the "DMO Karakalpakstan" Public Association paid a working visit to the Kyrgyz Republic aimed at studying successful tourism practices, developing partnerships, and exchanging best practices.
One of the key highlights of the program was a visit to the Osh Destination office — a leading tourism organization in southern Kyrgyzstan. During the meeting, participants discussed destination promotion strategies, community engagement, sustainable tourism development, and the potential for interregional cooperation in Central Asia. Special attention was given to the meeting with the well-known guide and travel blogger Atabek from the @bestofosh project, where topics such as the creation and improvement of tourist routes, as well as possible ways to increase tourist flows to both regions, were explored.
The DMO Karakalpakstan team also visited the Kyrgyz office of the German Society for International Cooperation (GIZ), where they met with Nargiza Pazylova, Advisor to the "Green Economy and Sustainable Private Sector Development in Kyrgyzstan" program. The parties discussed opportunities for cooperation in organizing joint seminars and working meetings, as well as in developing and promoting tourism products that showcase the unique attractions of both regions.
The itinerary included the cities of Osh and Jalal-Abad, where participants not only held working meetings but also explored key tourist attractions. These included the sacred Sulayman-Too Mountain in Osh, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and the picturesque Arslanbob natural complex in the Jalal-Abad region. The delegation also had the opportunity to taste traditional Kyrgyz cuisine and experience the warmth and hospitality of the local people.
The visit marked an important step in strengthening professional ties, exchanging experiences, and building a solid foundation for long-term cooperation in the tourism sector between Karakalpakstan and Kyrgyzstan.
